Hello, I am Jamie, proprietor of JD's.
If you have found your way to our website, You are probably considering contacting us to have some guitar related jiggery pokery done on your beloved axe. With this in mind here is a little background on me.
Although my company is new, I am not new to guitar work.
I have been a player since I was about 10 years old, I'm no virtuoso but I have enjoyed playing in a few bands over the years and even as an amateur guitar player, I understand the connection a musician has with their instrument.
My personal collection of guitars is modest, but I have built a strong attachment to them over the years and I wouldn't now be without them.
My experience as a guitar setup/ repair person started in a small way around 10 years ago and then in earnest around 5 years ago.
I have been setting up and repairing my own, my friends and friends' friends guitars in that time and I have discovered that, not only do I enjoy it immensely, I am also good at it (brag).
Around a year ago I began guitar setup work for Bristol Rock Centre customers through their infrastructure, to good reviews. A link to their website below.
My background prior to this juncture has been an apprenticeship in plant mechanics (plant=diggers and stuff like that) which involved, electronics, metal work and fabrication, not to mention a raft of problem solving with regards to engineering problems, big and very small.
After being made redundant from this job many moons ago, I found myself working in the construction industry, which led me to gain a GNVQ in carpentry and joinery.
15 years of carpentry experience later, I have found myself at a point, where I am making my hobby and passion (guitar stuff) into a career.
I would love to be the person that is privileged enough to work on your guitars and I would love for you to be so happy with your experience, using my services, that you would recommend me to your guitar playing friends and peers.
